Another email from a former aide of John Kerry's shows Hunter getting invited to a 'private breakfast' with Massimov in 2015 by Kazakh banker Marc Holtzman.

The undated photograph of Massimov and the Bidens, published in an October 2020 report, resurfaced in the wake of a New York Post report claiming that emails found on Hunter's laptop could purportedly implicate Joe in his embattled son's international business dealings during his time as vice president.

In the image - which was published on the website of an anti-corruption group called the Kazakhstani Initiative on Asset Recovery and has not been independently verified - Joe and Hunter are seen smiling alongside Rakishev and Massimov.

The 2022 Kazakh unrest, also known as the Bloody January, was a series of mass protests that began in Kazakhstan on 2 January 2022. The official albeit not formally approved version is that the unrest was supposed to initiate a change of political regime.

Kazakhstan's former intelligence chief Karim Massimov, who Hunter Biden had described as a 'close friend,' was charged with high treason as violent anti-government demonstrations there see more than 160 people killed and nearly 8,000 more injured.

A photo unearthed in October 2020 appears to show Joe Biden meeting with Massimov and Kenes Rakishev, his son Hunter's alleged business partner in Kazakhstan.

Hunter and Massimov reportedly became friendly when the then-vice president's son served on the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma and Massimov was in his second stint as Kazakh prime minister.

The pair met up in Kazakhstan sometime in 2014 to discuss a potential energy deal, emails obtained from Hunter Biden's laptop reveal.

2022-05-09 12:02:18 What is Russia's Victory Day?

The day celebrates the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

It includes military parades in Moscow and more than two dozen Russian cities. It will involve nearly 65,000 people, 2,400 types of weapons and military equipment and more than 460 planes, according to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

The Soviet Union lost 27 million people in World War Two, more than any other country, and Putin has railed in recent years at what Moscow sees as attempts in the West to revise the history of the war to belittle the Soviet victory. Putin has been revising Russian history for decades. Since its 2008 invasion of Georgia, he said Putin has voiced a romantic version of Russian nationalism. One where the country is -- and should be -- accorded great power status in Europe.

As he re-writes Russian history, Putin is positioning himself alongside Peter the Great, Catherine the Great and Stalin as the fourth leader of a "great and powerful" Russia. To achieve this vision, he wants to capture territory that once formed the historic area of Novorossiya, such as south and eastern Ukraine.

With Russia clearly underperforming in Ukraine, Putin will likely try and use the parade to build public confidence in the military. He expects the parade to be more militaristic and the speeches more assertive than ever before.

After claiming Russia is "denazifying" Ukraine, Putin now says Russia is fighting a European Nazism backed by American imperialists. At the parade, we anticipate a speech that Russia is engaged in a Patriotic War 2.0, where the country is fighting for its very survival.

This is to prepare them for possible troop call ups and bigger economic sacrifices as the war drags on.

Belarus’ authoritarian leader says he didn’t expect Russia’s war in Ukraine to drag on for so long and claimed he was doing “everything” to stop it, in an interview with The Associated Press on Thursday.

“But I am not immersed in this problem enough to say whether it goes according to plan, like the Russians say, or like I feel it. I want to stress one more time, I feel like this operation has dragged on,” Lukashenko said during the nearly 90-minute interview at the Independence Palace in Minsk.

2022-05-01 19:49:51 The only ones who only tighten visa restrictions for Russians are European countries.

This is neither clever nor strategically sound behavior. Europe is as behind as ever and having born the main financial burden of the war and of hosting Ukrainian refugees, it does not want to take advantage of the enormous brain drain currently taking place from Russia.

In fact, Europe has a vendetta against any Russian who flees Putin's Russia. European politicians probably think that this is revenge on Putin and that people who are fleeing should stay in Russia and fight against Putin's regime.

Crazy requirements for visas, such as the need to apply from the embassy in Russia, the requirement to obtain a certificate of criminal record from Putin's enforcement machine, an unofficial ban on opening a bank account for anyone with a Russian passport - this is only part of what the European bureaucracy has in store for those who flee from Russia, carrying their knowledge, talent and entrepreneurial energy with them.

The cancellation of entrepreneurial (or so-called golden) visas by all European countries is absolutely insane and inhumane. Europe thereby blocked the way for thousands of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and their families who could have moved to Europe and started their lives again. To bring their experience and capital to Europe.

To open an account in the U.S., a Russian only needs to go to the bank and provide his address. Many banks do not even need an SSN, visa, or green card. And in Europe, it is simply impossible for a Russian to open an account.

In short, rereading Remarque's Arc de Triomphe, you realize that nothing has changed in Europe in 80 years. Despite all the declarations of openness and universal human values, helping Ukraine and refugees from there - who certainly need to be helped - Europe shifts the collective blame onto all Russians and gladly hits those who are easier to reach - refugees from Putin's Russia.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev resigned Tuesday from the ruling Amanat party, formerly known as Nur Otan, and stepped down as party chairman.

“As of today I resign from the party and step down as chairman,” the leader said at the opening of Amanat’s 23rd extraordinary congress, during which he proposed as his replacement the chairman of the Mazhilis, Kazakhstan’s lower house of parliament, Yerlan Koshanov.

Tokayev said then that the head of state’s role is to ensure that all branches of power are accountable to the people, considering that the president should “distance himself” from the party, a status, he said, that should be enshrined in the constitution.
