We are not “born free” or “free born.”

Psalm 51:5 says that we are conceived in iniquity. Iniquity is sin.

Some explain that there’s differences between sin, iniquity, and trespass. And there are.

But the critical idea is that NO ONE is born without sin except Jesus Christ (Luke 1:35).

We are all in bondage to sin. The Bible calls us children of wrath (Ephesians 2:3).

This matters because while we say freedom; that can have a political meaning and a spiritual meaning.

The Bible teaches that we are all sinners and we will be judged for our sin (2 Tim 4:1).

This is why we need the gospel (good news). We need a Savior from our sin.

This is why Jesus Christ came – to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10).

The gospel is for everyone.

Not because you or I can earn it.

But because Jesus Christ is that good and loving.

Amen.
